Verified Reader pilot data notice
This notice explains how Verified Reader uses information while teachers evaluate the app. The pilot is operated by Verified Reader.
What Verified Reader stores
Teacher accounts include a name, username, email, account status, feedback, support messages, and an optional teacher profile picture. Student accounts do not require email addresses, but may include a name, username, class membership, bookshelf, reading logs, teacher feedback, moderated class-book conversations, star transaction history, unlocked reward characters, and a selected avatar. Historical quiz attempts and scores created before that feature was disabled may remain in protected records; the current app does not create new quiz activity.
Why it is used
The information supports classroom reading workflows, account security, teacher feedback, troubleshooting, and pilot evaluation. Verified Reader does not sell pilot information or use it for behavioral advertising.
Anonymous site analytics
When configured, Verified Reader uses Cloudflare Web Analytics to measure aggregate page views and page-loading performance. The analytics beacon does not receive student or classroom content, names, account identifiers, bookshelves, reading logs, grades, teacher feedback, Book Club posts, or comments. It does not use analytics cookies, custom events, or advertising identifiers, and the measurements are not used for advertising.
Optional Google access
If a user chooses Google sign-in, Verified Reader stores the Google account identifier, verified email address, and display name needed to recognize the account. If a teacher separately connects Google Classroom, Verified Reader requests read-only access to the teacher's active courses, course names and sections, student roster names, and stable Google account identifiers so the teacher can create or update a Verified Reader roster. Student email addresses are not requested from Classroom. Verified Reader does not create, edit, grade, or delete anything in Google Classroom.
Google authorization tokens are application-encrypted and used only to provide the sign-in and roster-import features the user requests. Google user data is not used for advertising, sold, sent to an AI system, or used to train AI models. Disconnecting Classroom removes the saved authorization tokens while retaining imported Verified Reader classes and student records under the normal retention rules. Users may also revoke access from their Google Account permissions.
Access and sharing
Students see their own private reading records plus feed items permitted by teacher settings. A teacher profile picture is visible only to the teacher and students in that teacher's workspace, including beside the teacher's Book Club activity. Teachers see only their own workspace and classes. The Verified Reader operator can manage accounts, support, and backups. Hosting and email providers process only the information needed to operate those services.
Retention and deletion
Active classroom records are retained while the account remains active. Deleted student and class records are recoverable for 30 days, then removed from the live database; backup copies expire within an additional 30 days. Security and audit history is generally retained for up to 12 months. Verified quiz sequences remain available until deprecated or removed for quality.
Teachers can remove or replace an optional profile picture at any time. Removing a picture hides it immediately. Profile-picture files are convenience media stored separately from classroom database records and may require re-upload after disaster recovery. Removed accounts are disabled immediately, and associated profile pictures are removed during the normal deletion cycle. Contact support@verifiedreader.com to request access, correction, export, or deletion.
Security and pilot limits
Verified Reader uses role checks, hashed passwords, protected sessions, email verification, rate limits, audit events, and controlled backups. No system can guarantee absolute security.
Your pilot responsibilities
Use fictional student information unless your school or district has approved real student use. Do not enter sensitive personal information in reading summaries, feed posts, comments, feedback, or support tickets. Teacher profile pictures must not contain student photos, classroom scenes, or images the teacher does not have permission to use.
